In Ondo State, a fire broke out at a palm kernel factory worth over N10 million, seriously injuring one individual.
The palm kernel company in the Industrial Park at Onyearugbulem junction, Akure, the administrative centre, was reportedly destroyed by fire after a spark from the company’s change-over box.
Before firefighters arrived, the blazing fire had destroyed all of the raw materials and burned all of the processing machines.
One of the workers, whose name has yet to be determined, was hurt in the fire and transferred to a private hospital, according to a witness.
Mr. Adeniyi Adesunloye, the company’s owner, revealed that he was notified of the occurrence in the afternoon, bemoaning that his 10-year labor had gone to waste.
“We had just arrived this afternoon when we received a spark from the exchange box, and the next thing we learned, everything was on fire.”
Machinery, as well as a heavy-duty power generating unit, and many raw materials for processing palm kernel in the factory, were all lost in the fire, according to Adesunloye.
Meanwhile, the plant had been completely destroyed by the time the Federal Fire Service arrived.
